The chains of habit are too weak to be felt until they are too strong to be broken. Samuel Johnson's remark predicts failure. A habit that you forge is never too strong for you to break, given the will to do so. Yes, there is a certain slavery to your habits once they are established within your life, a feeling that you are only breathing air so you can serve the programming of the habit.
On the opposite side, there is a beauty to the habit that is under your control, the habit that serves you, the habit that enables your life to bloom and reach out in search of your potential.
These are the habits we want to tend towards flourishing.
